I went to see the V&A to see the Disobedient Objects exhibition (well worth a visit) and see the Guerilla Girls talk about their work. I’ve long been a fan since coming across Liz McQuiston’s Suffragettes to She-Devils about 15 years ago. They seek to highlight and challenge the disproportionate representation of women in Art and Popular Culture. They dress up as gorillas, adopt the names of dead women artists, dish out bananas and talk shed-loads of sense. I was very chuffed to catch one of the bananas and felt I needed to do something with it, aside from eating it.
